    Jan’s vision and experience has been the driving force behind the establishment and the teaching of the evolving ministry of The Literacy Clinic NZ. She has over 30 years of teaching experience across a wide range of curriculum areas in the New Zealand Education system, including lecturing in Early Childhood Education at both the Auckland and Christchurch Colleges of Education. Jan is passionate about Structured Literacy and the life-changing results that this approach delivers for dyslexic, autistic, dyspraxic, dysgraphic and other students who need to learn to read and write using a systematic, explicit approach.

    Dave is Jan’s husband and is responsible for overseeing all the administrative tasks at TLCNZ, including strategic planning and its implementation. He has a Doctorate in Advertising from the Auckland University of Technology and has over 30 years of tertiary teaching experience. In addition, he has extensive experience in the Marketing and Advertising industry and until recently was mentoring the next generation of Advertising professionals in conjunction with the Commercial Communications Council of New Zealand.

Our team includes : Additional Consultants, Two Educational Psychologists, plus Trainee Contractors.

  • a NZ registered teacher

  • have experience with and are passionate about supporting neuro-diverse students

  • interested in a part-time, Structured Literacy teaching position

Provide us with:

  • a one page curriculum vitae

  • your qualifications

  • your NZ registration number and expiry date

  • evidence of your Structured Literacy training (provider and dates training done)

  • 3 professional references (from NZ schools or environments)

Also provide us with a 1-2 page statement outlining an example of your Structured Literacy experiences to date. This should include:

  • where you used Structured Literacy. (Location/school)

  • the ages of the students

  • a description of the SL process used

  • before and after data (if available)

  • your observations and reflections about this process and the impact on the students
