The Literacy Clinic NZ’s Structured Literacy Foundation 1 Toolkit (TLCNZF1T) provides material to support the structured, explicit and systematic teaching of literacy skills and knowledge to students of all ages.
The TLCNZF1T is divided into three parts:
Part One includes in-depth material for the structured, explicit and systematic teaching of closed and open syllables, tricky ‘e’ syllable (magic ‘e’), digraphs, blends, the FLOSS rule, when to use k/ck, ch/tch, ge/dge, soft c and soft g. Additional material is included for teaching plurals, suffixes and heart words.
Part One is organized for teachers teaching Year One and Year Two students in a school or home-school environment. This material can also be used to provide foundational literacy learning for older students who are just beginning their Structured Literacy journey.
